The new BMW X6M and X5M now at Vines BMW.

Now the discerning customer has the opportunity to enjoy the unique high-performance character of a BMW M car also in the segment of BMW X models: The BMW X5 M and the BMW X6 M are the first all-wheel-drive models to offer the supreme performance, dynamic driving features, athletic design, and premium quality of a typical BMW M Car.

Both models are powered by a newly developed V8 high-performance engine delivering 408 kW/555 hp at an engine speed range between of 6,000 rpm from an engine capacity of 4,395 cc. The new M TwinPower Turbo engine is indeed the world’s first power unit with a common exhaust manifold encompassing both rows of cylinders and featuring Twin Scroll Twin Turbo Technology.
BMW’s intelligent xDrive all-wheel-drive system is naturally geared to the specific power and performance characteristics of the BMW X5 M and the BMW X6 M, just like Dynamic Performance Control also standard on both models. Interacting with the cars’ special M suspension including Adaptive Drive and the newly developed Servotronic power steering, this ensures the driving behaviour so characteristic of a BMW M Car, combining unique driving stability with precisely controlled steering qualities all the way to the highest level of driving dynamics.

The BMW X5 M and the BMW X6 M set new standards in this segment of high-performance models in terms of acceleration, lateral dynamics, steering behaviour, stopping power, and efficiency. Both models accelerate to 100 km/h from a standstill in 4.7 seconds and stand out not only through the truly impressive delivery of power by the V8 turbo engine providing maximum torque of 680 Newton-metres or 501 lb-ft in the broad speed range between 1,500 and 5, 650 rpm, but also through the likewise smooth and consistent build-up of lateral forces meeting the highest requirements and the most dynamic level of performance in bends.

BMW Group tops CO2 cutting chart

BMW also named most sustainable car company in the world as it scoops 2009 GreenFleet Awards

For the second year in a row the BMW Group has cut its average CO2 emissions per car by more than any other automotive manufacturer. According to an independent report published by the European Federation for Transport and Environment, the average reduction across the industry was 3.3 per cent, while BMW Group achieved 10.2 per cent.

BMW Group’s success in reducing CO2 is thanks to its EfficientDynamics programme which incorporates a wide variety of fuel-saving and emissions-reducing measures across the whole vehicle range as standard. Many of its competitors sell fuel efficiency packages as options.

EfficientDynamics technology includes Auto Start-Stop, Brake Energy Regeneration and Active Aerodynamics, amongst a wide range of other features.  This technology gives BMW and MINI owners outstanding fuel economy and low emissions without forsaking driving enjoyment. The result is the reduction of BMW Group’s average vehicle emissions in 2008 to 154g/km, down 10.2 per cent from 172g/km in 2007. With the introduction of further efficient BMWs in 2009 this figure is expected to drop again.

GreenFleet Awards success for BMW

As further recognition of the class-leading position BMW Group vehicles command courtesy of EfficientDynamics technologies, the marque has scooped two more prestigious awards. The UK fleet industry presented the BMW Group with Fleet Car Manufacturer of the Year and the Industry Innovation Award.

The former award was bestowed in recognition of the car manufacturer that had shown the greatest improvement in CO2 emissions, had expanded its range of low emission vehicles or offered alternative fuel vehicles. It is the second year in a row that the BMW Group has been award top honours in this category. The Industry Innovation Award was presented to the BMW Group because it had introduced new technologies that had such a significant impact on fuel consumption and emissions.

Most sustainable car company in the world

BMW has also been named the “Most sustainable car company in the world” in the latest Dow Jones Sustainability Index for the fifth year in a row.  Since its inception in 1999 BMW is the only automotive organisation to have featured every year on the index.

This is the latest accolade in a string of environmental awards, most recently including Green Sports car and Executive car of the year awards at the What Car? Green Awards, Green Initiative and Manufacturer of the year at the BusinessCar Awards 2009 and the Special Editor’s Award for EfficientDynamics technologies at the Auto Express New Car Honours.

Vines Group ride into South London.

You may have read in the papers recently about our exciting new expansion into South London following the purchase of BMW motorcycle dealership South London Motorrad, based in Caterham, Surrey.

We have been thinking about expanding into the surrounding area following years of success with our existing BMW and MINI dealerships in Gatwick, Guildford and Redhill.

The acquisition was completed on Thursday 8 October, with us taking immediate ownership of the South London dealership and re-naming it Vines South London Motorrad.  The new showroom will offer the same award winning service our motorcycle customers have become accustomed to, offering sales, servicing, parts, accessories and clothing. The acquisition offers our Gatwick and Redhill customers who maybe thinking about purchasing a BMW Motorrad bike, a Vines dealership that little bit closer.

We were thrilled knowing we had the backing of BMW Group as it encouraged the takeover of South London Motorrad knowing we were keen to expand and grow our reputation of excellence in the motorcycle sector.

Help For Heroes - Charity Event at Vines of Guildford.

VINES OF GUILDFORD WELCOME MIKE READ AND AUSTIN VINCE PLUS FIRST PUBLIC VIEWING OF TOURATECH “DAWN TO DUSK” VIDEO

Vines of Guildford is hosting a charity evening full of fun and frivolity in support of Help for Heroes as it welcomes adventurer Austin Vince, and DJ Mike Read on Friday 20 November from 7pm.

Austin is set to capture the audience’s attention as he talks about his two around the world trips accompanied by something not on everyone’s travelling checklist - his motorcycle. His comedic tales, which are for adult ears only, are sure to include the time he reached Siberia realising he had forgotten to take a puncture repair kit with him! Austin will be reminiscing for over an hour about his travels and answering questions from those contemplating something similar.

DJ and TV presenter Mike Read will be joining Austin on the night whilst doing what he does best and compeering the evening’s entertainment including the charity auction which will round off the evening’s proceedings. Confirmed auction items up for grabs so far include an LCD Flat screen TV, a K 1300 R for the weekend, a pair of MSV driving experience vouchers, a signed Charley Boorman book, two signed Bee Gees T-shirts, a voucher for BMW clothing and some signed goodies from Ian Wright.

The evenings antics will start with the first full 60 minute showing of the TourTech ‘Dawn to Dusk’ race DVD which took place on 29 and 30 August this year. Guests are welcome to sit and watch the race whilst others mingle and admire the motorbike showroom. Those wanting to watch the race in the comfort of their own homes can buy the DVD on the night, or at a reduced price when purchasing tickets for the evening.

Along with the unique entertainment, the ticket price includes a curry provided by the Army Kitchen, which can be enjoyed whilst listening to the Army Band, and washed down with a complementary drink from Hogs Back Brewery.

All profits from ticket sales will be donated to the Help for Heroes charity, along with all the proceeds from the evening’s charity auction.

Tickets are £20 each. Those wanting a discounted Dawn to Dusk DVD can purchase one ticket and DVD for £35. The DVD will be £20 on the night with £5 from each sale going to Help for Heroes.

So whether you’re bringing your partner or your bike, be sure to bring your sense of humour as Vines of Guildford prepares for a night of adult entertainment.

Tickets are available from Vines of Guildford by calling 01483 207000 or email marketing@vinesgroup.co.uk. Due to the content of Austin Vince’s tales, this is an over 16’s ONLY event.

Vines Group has BMW, MINI and Motorrad dealerships in Guildford, Redhill, Gatwick and now Motorrad at South London. To find a local dealership visit www.vinesbmw.co.uk
